The normal incandescent lights are often the most readily available, but will cost a fortune to run. The best option to keep your power bill down is to look at outdoor LED Christmas lights. These are low powered and come in string with lots of lights per string. The strings can be connected together to get the length you need. Also LED come in a variety of sizes from the mini or fairy lights to the typical C7 or C9 light bulbs shapes. Also with LED lights you can find some really cool color changing effects.
