Are you looking for some nice Christmas gifts for teachers and teachers aids that aren’t going to put put too much of a dent into your holiday budget? Chances are you need more than one teacher gift. Don’t panic! There is plenty of time to put together some great gifts for teachers without breaking your budget.
Consumable gifts are always a good idea. Maybe a small tin of fudge, cookies or candy. Try to avoid the standard gifts for teachers like mugs and ornaments because teachers generally get a lot of these over the years.
Another idea would be a $5.00 gift certificate for a place like Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks. $5.00 is just the right amount for the teacher to be able to treat himself or herself to a cup of coffee or tea and a small treat.
If your budget is a little bigger then how about a $10.00 gift certificate to your local book store along with nice bookmark. Gift cards to stores like Walmart and Target are also appreciated.
If you are going to give lotions or soaps then it is better to buy a few small sizes of good quality products than to get caught up in the prepackaged off brands that find their way on the store shelves each year. Many teachers end up with more of these than they can possibly use in a lifetime. And lets face it, a lot of the “bargain” products out there do tend to irritate the skin.
It may be too late for this year but throughout the year look for the high quality discount glycerin soaps and hand creams that are marked down and save them for next Christmas (these aren’t just great gifts for teachers but they make great stocking stuffers as well).
If you aren’t sure if your child’s teacher celebrates Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or something else then you could just stick with a winter holiday gift that has no mention of Christmas. Just keep the gift and the wrapping simple.
Whatever you do be sure to keep it simple. In fact if a gift is not in your budget at all that is perfectly understandable. One of the most treasured gifts for teachers is a handmade card from the student with a note to let them know how much they are appreciated.
