An Inexpensive Personal Winter Wonderland
When people think of decorating outdoors for Christmas, they’re usually thinking of stringing lights along the front of the house or dangling them from the trees and bushes in the front yard for all the neighbors to see. But, why not consider decorating your backyard instead to have your own personal winter wonderland in which to celebrate the holidays? This can be done inexpensively, while still providing a little winter respite from the hectic pace of the season.Turning your outdoor garden decor into a personal winter wonderland is easy and doesn’t require much money. Find a tree, an evergreen is best, and decorate it just as you would the one inside your home. Since the decorations will be exposed to the elements, no need to spend a lot on expensive ornaments. Just get a few strings of Christmas lights and some inexpensive boxed ornaments to make the tree look festive. Keeping it all in one color scheme is a nice touch.
Another thing you can do to add to the festive atmosphere is to decorate your patio or deck area, just as you would your living room. You can string decorations or hang wreaths from along the rails of a deck, along patio furniture that is left outside or a patio umbrella. If you have a garden building or shed in your yard, you can create your own mini light and decoration display just for the benefit of your family.
The greatest thing about creating your own personal holiday display in your backyard or garden is that it is made for the sole purpose of your family to enjoy. It does not have to cost a lot to decorate this outside space – simply pick up a few inexpensive lights or decorations, use some old ones that no longer are being used on your indoor tree, or get creative and decorate with twigs, pine cones and other natural elements. The best thing of all is that when that first snowfall comes, you’ll have a decorative aspect that you can’t recreate indoors for any amount of money – real snow!
So, don a pair of mittens, grab a few mugs of hot chocolate and spend some time enjoying the season in the comfort of your own backyard!
